To emphasize the positioning of the body of a human while performing an activity

The students will design, create and paint a 6-10 inch figure of a person doing an activity

IMPLEMENTATION

Understanding the human form is essential to many forms of art. Understanding the way the body moves and how it funtions will help the students to understand and create more quality work both 2D and 3D.

The students will be instructed on what sculpture is and the many forms it takes. A procedure lesson will follow showing the techniques to be used in the lesson. The students will construct aluminum foil figures to start being careful to be accurate to body proportions. the figures will then be covered and detailed using plaster(pariscraft), for structure and detail. Additional materials may be used after completion of the figure to show the activity chosen.

These are some of the examples completed by my 8th grade classes

Students will work collaboratively & individually. Students will work in groups of 1.

6 class periods. 40 Min. per class.

This activity gives the student a chance to share his interests or goals that they have in their life. The projects are always unique to the individual who creates them and are a good way to explore the figure in a fun and positive way.
